I teach private violin and viola in my home studio in Ellicott City, Maryland, along with my assistant teacher Ryan Zeitler. Please contact Nana Vaughn to arrange an audition/trial lesson. My teaching schedule is very limited due to my college teaching and performances. Sign up on my studio wait list for a spot in the studio.

Course of Study
The main purpose of private lessons is to help the student become an independent and lifelong learner in music. My course of study helps build a solid foundation in physical set-up, note reading, listening skills, interpretation, musicality, and ensemble. Students are expected to practice regularly at home to reinforce concepts learned in lessons. As part of their preparation, students will play in a studio recital once per year, create audio recording projects, perform at solo and ensemble festivals, and prepare for other auditions, festivals, summer camps, ensembles, and college auditions, as the student desires.

As a parent, Nana has helped guide three brilliant, quirky, artistic children into adulthood. Her kids participated in everything from the Davidson Young Scholars for children who are identified as "profoundly gifted" with an IQ score over 145; to ADHD and speech therapy for auditory processing disorder; to activities from art to gymnastics to music and youth orchestras. These parenting experiences have greatly influenced how she teaches - she approaches each child as an individual with unique gifts, challenges and goals.
A virtual recital video created in my home studio (in this case the video is my then-nine year old daughter Mira, since I did not want to share other students' videos without permission.)
